Message to My Patients:
Every patient is different, and therefore each patient requires individual attention to the history of the specific orthopaedic problem, the past medical history, and the current physical condition of the patient. A comprehensive history and physical exam leads to appropriate testing, diagnosis, and treatment options.
The majority of my patients can be treated with non-operative measures such as activity modification, medications, home exercise programs, physical therapy, and injections. When surgery is an option, then the appropriate surgical alternatives are discussed with the patient.
I specialize in total hip replacement, arthroscopic knee surgery, total knee replacement, spine surgery, and some shoulder surgery. If you require a surgical procedure that I do not perform, I will refer you to the appropriate surgeon for your specific surgery.
A Little About My Schooling:
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University. I then attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine to obtain my medical degree. I completed my orthopaedic residency at the Duke University Medical Center, and then completed additional training in total joint replacement as the Maurice E. Muller Foundation North American Fellow in Adult Reconstructive Surgery. I have been on the clinical staff of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine since 1989; I have been a full-time faculty member since 2003.
Office Staff:
I work closely with my office staff, all of whom come to know my patients at some level during their treatment.
Krista Freeman is a Physician Assistant who sees patients in the office with me. She also assists me during surgery.
Leslie, Peggy, and Sue coordinate the office activities. We work as a team to give you the service you deserve in treating your orthopaedic ailments.
